SEASON 2021-2022     -     BARCELONA
Players Brian Allan, Venerando Bermudez, Harry Gold, David Howes, Qaiyum Khan, Zara Rizvi
Position Swiss - 10 out of 12
Comments A
SEASON 2018-2019     -     BARCELONA
Players Akash Arun, Andrew Couchman, Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Cap), Shivank Khare, Kai Lam.
Position League One - 2 of 6
Comments A good campaign, but not enough to gain the title.  After a 1st round loss, they went on a 4 game winning streak, but were held to draws in the final 2 rounds.  A win in round 6 against Pawn Curry 2 was essential to keep their title hopes alive, so that 1st draw ended their hopes.
SEASON 2017-2018     -     BARCELONA
Players Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Cap), Shivank Khare, Kai Lam, Luke Moore, Anton Rance.
Position Championship - 8 of 8
Comments Another tough season, despite brave performances, left them bottom of the middle division, but with potential options ahead of the new season.  A new signing helped them obtain a crushing win in their final match of the campaign.
SEASON 2016-20175   -     BARCELONA
Players Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Cap), Shivank Khare, Kai Lam, Gavin Lock.
Position Championship - 8 of 8
Comments Last summer was any difficult one where players were lost that the captain may have prefered not to have lost, leaving a keen by raw squad in Championship terms.  There were some good individual results and a good team win over the team that finished just above them, but sadly a 2nd consecutive bottom placed finish in their division.
SEASON 2015-20165   -     BARCELONA (2 teams)
Players Maaduri Anbukumar, Harry Chaudhury, Nikhil Chidipothu, Tarun Desai, Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Cap), Alina Imykshenova, Akshaya Kalaiyalahan, Shivank Khare, Kai Lam, Gavin Lock, Yang-Jian Zhou.
Position 1st: Premiership - 8th of 8,     2nd: League 1 - 7th of 8.
Comments Having had the frustration of top players dropping out last year mid-season, they had sporadic availability of their top players this season.  Had they not been unavailable, there is little doubt that they would have been challenging for the title.  Likewise that had a knock-on effect to their 2nd team, who didn't have the strength in depth available to them to avoid finishing in the bottom 2.
SEASON 2014-20155   -     BARCELONA (2 teams)
Players Marcus Osborne, Gavin Lock, Akshaya Kalaiyalahan, Kevin Bailey, Kevin Thurlow, Nick Briggs, Yang-Jian Zhou, Nikhil Chidipothu, David Howes (Capt), Tom O'Neill, Ryan Foster, Kyle Rundstrom, Sarah Hastilow.
Position 1st Team:  Premiership - 3rd out of 6     Cup: Q-F                   2nd Team:  League One - 3rd out of 6     Cup: Plate S-F
Comments Unavailable players must surely be seen as the key to why Barcelona 1 didn't manage to win the league, when considering the squad that they had.  Despite the problems, it was only defeat in the final round that finally took them out of the running to win.  The 2nd team beat the eventual champions of League 2but lost to the runners-up. In the end, they finished 3rd.  It should be noted that the captain pointed out to the controller that he had used an ineligible player in the Q-F of the cup, leading to the reversal of the result.  The 2nd team managed to reach the semi-finals of the Plate.
SEASON 2013-2014     -     BARCELONA
Players Kevin Bailey, Dan Staples, Akshaya Kalaiyahalan, Yang-Jian Zhou, David Howes (Capt)
Position Premiership - 4th out of 6     Cup: S-F
Comments A strong squad like this would have liked to have finished in the top half, but unavailabilities towards the end of the season put pay to any title challenge; in total they were a player short for half of their matches.  They did reach the cup semi-final where they lost to a strong RSJ team.
SEASON 2012-2013     -     BARCELONA
Players Kevin Bailey, Dan Staples, Akshaya Kalaiyahalan, David Howes (Capt), Yang-Jian Zhou, Richard Davis.
Position Premiership - 4th out of 6
Comments It was a "nearly" season in many ways for Barcelona.  Having had a cracking win against RSJ in the cup, they were possibly favourites to win it, but they succumbed to a Pawn Crackers team that they had beaten in the league just a month earlier.  Unavailability of key players had a big part to play in their cup exit and their decline in the league.  They finished 4th but did go into the last game of the season knowing that a win could have clinched them the title, despite defeat in the previous league match.  However, RSJ gained revenge for that opening day cup defeat as they took the title instead.
SEASON 2011-2012     -     BARCELONA
Players Kevin Bailey, Richard Davis, David Howes (Capt), Akshaya Kalaiyahalan, Keith Selby, Yang-Jian Zhou
Position Premiership - 4th out of 8
Comments Defeat to the champions in the opening round must have left them worried of a repeat of their last time in the Premiership when they went straight back down again.  However 3 wins and  a 2 draws in the last 6 rounds pulled them up the table for a respectable top half finish.
SEASON 2010-2011     -     REAL BETIS
Players Daryl Brooks, Martin Cath, David Howes (Capt), Keith Selby, Jonathan Shoosmith, Yang-Jian Zhou
Position Championship - 1st out of 8
Comments With 3 wins in the opening 3 games, they retained their status as odds on favourites to win promotion, but a wobble in the next 2 rounds opened the door.  However, 2 victories in the final 2 rounds confirmed them as Champions and promotion back to the Premiership.
SEASON 2009-2010     -     REAL BETIS
Players Daryl Brooks, Martin Cath, David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Keith Selby, Jonathan Shoosmith
Position Premiership - 7th out of 8
Comments They had a 50% score after 3 rounds and a draw in round 5 kept them above danger, but defeat in the last 2 rounds saw them very cruelly slip back down the Championship on almost the narrowest margin possible.  Having finished completely level with Late Knight Sacrifice, the direct result between the 2 teams was drawn, but the board county went against Real Betis and they went down again as they did 2 seasons ago.  One feels they could be favourites to bounce straight back up again.
SEASON 2008-2009     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Barron, Daryl Brooks, Chris Constable, David Howes (Capt), Keith Selby, Jonathan Shoosmith
Position Championship - 1st out of 8
Comments The perfect tonic for last season was immediate promotion and the Championship title - and that is what was achieved.  They were there or there abouts most of the way despite only drawing in rounds 3 and 4.  A finish of 3 straight wins took them back to the top and to the title.
SEASON 2007-2008     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Barron, Daryl Brooks, Chris Constable, David Howes (Capt), Alan Prizant, Keith Selby
Position Premiership - 8th out of 8
Comments They had a squad that could have won it, but it was just one of those things.  Players unavailable at the wrong moments and others not quite finding their form on key boards left Real Betis struggling all season, although one feels that with even half of this squad, they should be good another to return to the top level at the end of next season.
SEASON 2006-2007     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Barron, Ian Buckley, Chris Constable, David Howes (Capt), Keith Selby
Position 3rd out of 12
Comments Real Betis had a storming start to the season with 4 straight wins, but the middle rounds cost them the title.  They managed to win the last 2 rounds but finished behind Four Board Forkers on goal difference, but this was their first prize zone finish.
SEASON 2005-2006     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Barron, Ian Buckley, David Howes, Keith Selby
Position 7th out of 20
Comments David Howes went for just 4 good players in the hope that they would bring stability and the title.  But yet again, it was results in the 2nd half of the season that cost the team a prize zone finish.
SEASON 2004-2005     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Barron, Ian Buckley, Jessie Gilbert, David Howes, Anita Tse
Position 11th out of 20
Comments It was a repeat of last season.  3 straight wins at the start had them perfectly places but then results started to turn, eventually leaving them in mid-table.
SEASON 2003-2004     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Barron, Ian Buckley, Marie Harman, David Howes, Anita Tse, Aidan Rawlinson, Simon Warman
Position 9th out of 20
Comments David Howes's new team had a good start to their first season in Super League, but results in the 2nd half season cost them a place in the prize zone.  They were not helped by a few bottom board defaults.
