CCF Super League History of
CHESSLEA**
(Captain:
Scott Freeman)

SEASON 2017-2018     -     CHESSLEA
Players Robert Akeya-Price, Aaravamudhan Balaji, D Ian Calvert, Judah Elliott, Michael Ifalore, Bartosz Jedrzejewski, Aishwarya Kalaiyalahan, Shasha Khan, Gordon Morse, Yash Shetty.
Position 1st: Premiership - 1 of 8,   2nd: League 1 - 1 of 6.
Comments A Summer of unexpected signings turned one of the 1st ever winners of the competition back into winners from being a team known as being run to ensure players had games.  Both teams won their respective divisions in a season that saw (effectively) 2 separate squads of 5 players operating the 2 teams.  Chesslea's 2nd team led the way most of the season; they only lost when they were 2 playrs short for 1 match.  The 1st team were always in the hunt but had to come from being on the final week, winning on goal difference whilst The Gladiators were held to a draw.  It was decided prior to the start of the new season to close Chesslea down, so that the existing teams could remain and have enough players to function.  The team is now in hibernation until next needed.
SEASON 2016-2017     -     CHESSLEA
Players Robert Akeya-Price, Ian Carden, Judah Elliott, Michael Ifalore, Shasha Khan.
Position 1st: Championship - 2 of 8
Comments Despite finishing 2nd, Chesslea never quite threatened to win the title.  They came from behind a little after a 2nd round defeat to The Gladiators, but lost the crunch game against The Dragon Kings in the middle round.  Wins in the final 3 rounds put them into a podium finish.
SEASON 2015-2016     -     CHESSLEA (2 teams)
Players Robert Akeya-Price, Ian Carden, Stirling Cook, Judah Elliott, Michael Freeman, Scott Freeman (Cap), Michael Ifalore, Yana Imykshenova, Richard Ledingham, Shivani Shukla, Suriya Velayudham.
Position 1st: Championship - 3rd of 8,     2nd: League 1 - 8th of 8.
Comments It was generally a good season for Chesslea's 1st team, but disappointing for the 2nd team who finished bottom of the bottom division.  The 1st team had a couple of defeats in the early part of the season but recovered well, whilst the 2nd team started weak, picked up a win and draw mid season but inevitably finished in the bottom 2.
SEASON 2014-2015     -     CHESSLEA
Players Brian Williamson, Ian Carden, Jenisan Kulendiran, Stirling Cook, Suriya Velayudham, Yana Imykshenova, Shivani Shukla. (Non-Playing Captain: Scott Freeman)
Position League 2 - 4th out of 6      Cup - Lost in Plate Intermediate Round
Comments Chesslea were out of the running for most things by the end of the old year, having lost all of their matches and gone out of the cup as early as was possible.  However 2 wins in the last 3 round of league matches gave them a respective mid-table finish.
SEASON 2013-2014     -     CHESSLEA
Players Lee Bullock, Peter Neary, Ian Carden, Brian Williamson, Jenisan Kulendiran, Sebastian Richmond (Non-Playing Captain: Scott Freeman)
Position League 1 - 7th out of 8      Cup - Lost in Plate quarter-finals
Comments A win and a draw in their first 2 league matches might have had Chesslea dreaming of a promotion slot, but player availability and general lack of ability to produce results when it mattered put pay to those chances.  The knock-out scene did not produce anything either with defeat in both games.
SEASON 2012-2013     -     CHESSLEA
Players Scott Freeman (Capt), Lee Bullock, Brian Williamson, Peter Neary, Michael Ifalore, Sebastian Richmond, Lavanya Vasudevan, Nishani Kulendiran.
Position League 1 - 4th out of 6      Cup - Lost in semi-final of Plate
Comments The players might have had thoughts of promotion but certainly a top half finish.  This could have been achieved if some of the stronger players had been available from the start of the season and one player not become un-contactable for the last few games.
SEASON 2011-2012     -     CHESSLEA
Players Lee Bullock, Scott Freeman (Capt), Alex Mann, Pooja Murali, Peter Neary, Nishani Kulendiran.
Position Championship - 6th out of 10
Comments Expectations were for a mid-table finish in the Championship with an outside chance of promotion were probably about right as the team finished just below half way.  They were chasing after 2 defeats at the start and pulled back well with 2 wins after that but after defeat and a win, they slipped below 50% when they lost the last round.
SEASON 2010-2011     -     CHESSLEA
Players Harry Chathli, Scott Freeman (Capt), Philip Horan, Alex Mann, Prannay Roy, Brian Williamson.
Position Championship - 8th out of 8
Comments Despite having potentially a strong squad, the teams on the night simply did not deliver on too many occasions.  Problems with players not being available at key moments and players pulling out of games just hours beforehand meant that a point was lost as a result.  But this team has been run to give people games since the league was won back in 2003.
SEASON 2009-2010     -     CHESSLEA
Players Elliott Burton, Scott Freeman (Capt), Alex Mann, Brian Williamson, Yang-Jian Zhou.
Position Championship - 4th out of 8
Comments Chesslea could well have challenged had they played their strongest team in each round and might have done so anyway.  However, early defeats to the eventual top 2 left them too far off the pace, even when rounds 3-5 produced 3 wins on the bounce.  Any thoughts of promotion disappeared with defeats in the last 2 rounds.
SEASON 2008-2009     -     CHESSLEA
Players Elliott Burton, Scott Freeman (Capt), Juhi Lall, Alex Mann, Nico Trompetas.
Position Championship - 5th out of 8
Comments Despite being a team run for practice, Chesslea finished 5th and would have been higher but for a couple of errors on board orders.  With a number of new players compared to last year, they finished 1 place higher than last time.
SEASON 2007-2008     -     CHESSLEA
Players Savya Aggarwal, Elliott Burton, Amber Church, Scott Freeman (Capt), Chris Imlay, Jasper Moore.
Position Championship - 6th out of 8
Comments Chesslea did not have the strength in depth at the start of the season for a serious title challenge, but the signing of Chris Imlay made a difference in the last 3 rounds.  As usual, this team was run to make numbers up and give players games, but some of them pulled off some good results.
SEASON 2006-2007     -     CHESSLEA
Players Louis Blair, Paul Braithwaite, Elliott Burton, Fred Coombes, Scott Freeman (Capt), Richard Ledingham.
Position 12th out of 12
Comments This team was run to give games to players and make up the number of teams to an even 12.  Finishing bottom, Chesslea were relegated to the new 2nd tier of the competition for the 2007-8 season.
SEASON 2006-2007     -     UNDER 100: CHESSLEA
Players Keith Barker, Paul Braithwaite, Elliott Burton, Bill McDonald, Michael Rogan. (Manager - Scott Freeman)
Position 8 out of 8
Comments Not a good season at all, despite having a squad that could have threatened to win it.
SEASON 2005-2006     -     CHESSLEA
Players Keith Barker, Scott Freeman (Capt), Alex Galliano, John Sheekey.
Position 11th out of 14
Comments This team was run to give games to players and make up the number of teams to an even 12.  The signing of Alex Galliano was to prove a major boost to the team as he scored some excellent results on top board.
SEASON 2005-2006     -     UNDER 100: CHESSLEA
Players Keith Barker, Elliott Burton, Scott Freeman (Capt), Bill McDonald.
  4 out of 10
Comments Chesslea matched identically last season's patten of results (WLLWD) yet finished a place higher.  They did so with just 4 players.
SEASON 2004-2005     -     CHESSLEA
Players Justin Cook, Scott Freeman (Capt), Andrew Harman, Frank Roberts, John Sheekey.
Position 14th out of 20
Comments This was not a bad finish for a team running to give players matches.  They were never likely to threaten the league title.
SEASON 2004-2005     -     UNDER 100: CHESSLEA
Players Lana Boztas, Elliott Burton, Andrew Harman, Tom O'Neill, Frank Roberts. (Manager - Scott Freeman)
Position 5th out of 10
Comments A good start was followed by a poor middle season before a recovery at the end just edged Chesslea back into the top half of the table.
SEASON 2003-2004     -     CHESSLEA
Players John Alexander, George Coomber, Scott Freeman (Capt), Andrew Harman, Alex Nestor, Frank Roberts.
Position 18th out of 20
Comments A slightly disappointing finish for Chesslea, which would no doubt have been better had all of the players been available from the start of the season.
SEASON 2002-2003     -     CHESSLEA
Players John Alexander, Kevin Bailey, David Bryant, Scott Freeman (Capt), Simon Wrigley.
Position 1st out of 12
Comments Chesslea won the title in probably the most thrilling finish to any Super League season in the first few years, with 3 teams gunning for the title on the final day.  After a mediocre start, Chesslea came through and won the final game 4-0 to snatch the title against the odds.
SEASON 2001-2002     -     CHESSLEA
Players John Alexander, Jay Brewer, Chas Byott, Scott Freeman (Capt), Michael Gwilliam
Position 4th out of 6
Comments This was the first ever season of competition and there had been an attempt to get the teams as equal as possible.  Chesslea scored poorly in the first half of the season but scored well in the second half to almost make the top 3.
