SEASON 2018-20194     -     BARCELONA
Players Nivjesh Aravinthan, Akash Arun, Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Capt), Alejandro Ito-Aramendia, Aurideep Nayak.
Position 2 out of 8
Comments It was a good season which started with 3 wins from 4; their only defeat up until that point had come against the eventual winners.  Sadly, it all ended in disappointment with defeat in the final round.  They needed The Gladiators to slip up in the final game and win themselves, but it happened the other way round.
SEASON 2017-20184     -     BARCELONA
Players Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Capt), Darshan Kumaresan, Alejandro Ito-Aramendia, Aurideep Nayak, Leo Yu.
Position 3 out of 8
Comments One place better than last season represented improvement, but they were one of 2 teams genuinely unlucky with the unavailability of players, who then failed to achieve the minimum number of appearances.  The positive was 2 wins in the final 2 rounds to take that pdoium position.
SEASON 2016-20174     -     BARCELONA
Players Sarah Hastilow, David Howes (Capt), Darshan Kumaresan, Alejandro Ito-Aramendia, Aurideep Nayak, Leo Yu.
Position 4 out of 8
Comments Their season was a mirror image with wins in the first and last round - and defeats in rounds 2 and 4.  Their only defeats came against the top 2, but they do have some promising junior players in their squad, so the hope for them next season will be to see those players continue to improve ], thus improving the strength of the team.
SEASON 2015-20164     -     BARCELONA
Players David Howes (Capt), Alejandro Ito-Aramendia, Ananth Vijayakumar, Aurideep Nayak, Sarah Hastilow.
Position 4th of 10
Comments Losing their strongest player of last season left them with a much tougher task of reclaiming the title they won 2 years ago, but they actually did better proportionately than last year, finishing in the top half of the table.  Their 2 wins came on and just after the mid-way point of the season, prior to which they were trying to stay clear of the bottom.
SEASON 2014-20154     -     BARCELONA
Players Koby Kalavannan, Ananth Vijayakumar, Alejandro Ito-Aramendia, David Howes (Capt), Aurideep Nayak, Sarah Hastilow.
Position 6 out of 8
Comments They started very well in defence of their title by only dropping half a point in the first 3 games.  However defeats in the last 2 saw the trophy ripped away from them.
SEASON 2013-20144     -     BARCELONA
Players Frank Kane, Koby Kalavannan, Ananth Vijayakumar, David Howes (Capt), Mayukh Padhi.
Position 1 out of 6
Comments Despite remaining unbeaten and winning 3 of the 5 rounds, Barcelona couldn't quite retain their title.  Had they won the penultimate round they would have done it but The Gladiators held them off and won the title by a point.
SEASON 2012-2013     -     BARCELONA
Players Frank Kane, Koby Kalavannan, Akshaya Kalaiyalahan, David Howes (Capt), Jamie West, Mayukh Padhi.
Position 1 out of 6
Comments Always one of the favourites, partly due to the signing of 2 strong up and coming junior players, they started with 4 straight wins and knew that a draw in their final game was going to be enough.  They got it to win their first title under their new name and 3rd Rapid Play title overall.
SEASON 2011-2012     -     BARCELONA
Players David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Mayukh Padhi, Keith Selby, Simon Wrigley, Yang-Jian Zhou.
Position 3 out of 6
Comments A decent start saw them well in the running but defeat in round 4 to the eventual Champions put pay to their bid to regain the title they last won in 2008.  The key unavoidable loss of one of their top players for a large chunk of the season would have been a major factor in them not pushing closer for top spot.
SEASON 2010-2011     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Keith Selby, Jonathan Shoosmith, Yang-Jian Zhou.
Position 3 out of 6
Comments A draw and a win had them on the pace after 2 rounds but defeat to the holders and eventual champions in round 3 saw them thrown off the pace.  A draw against The Gladiators in round 4 effectively ended their challenge, but they managed to hold for a top half place.
SEASON 2009-2010     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Keith Selby, Francis William Sagyaman, Jonathan Shoosmith.
Position 2 out of 6
Comments A shock defeat to Coulsdon Collection in round 2 and then the fact they were  held by the eventual Champions, 5 Seeted Magguts in round 3, meant that they were a little off the pace, albeit that they managed to finish 2nd for the 2nd year in a row.  Expect them to challenge again next season.
SEASON 2008-2009     -     REAL BETIS
Players David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Keith Selby, Jonathan Shoosmith, Ian Snape.
Position 2 out of 6
Comments In the running most of the way, they were held 2-2 by The Gladiators in the 3rd round.  Going into the final game, they went into the final game ahead on goal difference but were surprisingly taken out by Coulsdon Collection.  The Gladiators won in any case to take the title away.
SEASON 2007-2008     -     REAL BETIS
Players Dave Cork, David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Keith Selby, Jonathan Shoosmith, Ian Snape.
Position 1 out of 6
Comments An unbeaten season with 4 wins out of 5 saw Real Betis regain the title they lost to "The Others" last year.  A squad of 6 were well rotated and organised and the title well deserved.
SEASON 2006-2007     -     REAL BETIS
Players Dave Cork, David Howes (Capt), Frank Kane, Keith Selby, Ian Snape.
Position 3 out of 4
Comments Despite finishing 3rd, Real Betis only finished 1 point behind the 2 teams above them, although they were out of the running with 1 round to go having lost twice to the eventual winners.
SEASON 2005-2006     -     REAL BETIS
Players Dave Cork, Stuart Hamilton, David Howes (Capt), Keith Selby.
Position 1 out of 4
Comments Real Betis led from start to finish, winning the 1st 4 rounds and drawing the last rounds to win the first title after the year's break.
