1st TEAM PENALTY POINTS: 2 |
SEASON 2018-2019 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Rahul Babu, Lana Boztas, Richard Davis, David H Morgan, Gordon Morse, Yash Shetty. |
Position | Championship - 4 of 6. |
Comments | Despite a good opening result, the team struggled after that, with defeats in 3 of the next 4 matches. Safety was secured with victories on both of the final 2 matches, including the last day against eventual champions Chessters. |
SEASON 2017-2018 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Kevin Bailey, Lana Boztas, Richard Davis, Gavin Lock, David H Morgan. |
Position | Championship - 7 of 8. |
Comments | They started the season with a solid squad, but the sudden unavailability of 1 of their players left them short on strength as well as numbers. They did well, in the circumstances, to only default 1 board all season, ironically winning that game (their only win all season) - enough to keep them above Castles Knights, giving them a chance of holding their Premiership spot for next season. |
SEASON 2016-2017 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Kevin Bailey, Lana Boztas, George Coomber, Richard Davis, David H Morgan. |
Position | Championship - 1 of 8. |
Comments | It was a near perfect season as they only dropped 1 point in running away with the title; only 3rd placed Chessters held them in round 5. The question now is whether they manage to strengthen going into the Premiership - and whether they then retain all their players and try to run a double team for the new season. |
SEASON 2015-2016 - THE DRAGON KINGS
Players | Lana Boztas, George Coomber, Richard Davis, David H Morgan, Pranav Shukla |
Position | Championship - 5th of 8. |
Comments | It was middle of the road all the way with the only consistency in results being their inconsistency. With a new name and a keen new captain, they were a mix of old and new in their squad and one feels should be a threat when the new season gets underway in September. |
SEASON 2014-2015 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Frank Kane, Nigel Norman, David H Morgan, Lana Boztas, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Championship - 4th out of 6 Cup - Lost in Cup Q-F |
Comments | In the league, things were looking really bad after 3 matches as they sat bottom of the Championship with 3deafeats from 3, but they somehow managed to pull themselves clear of the drop with 2 wins in their last 2 matches. In the cup, the managed to find their way through to the Q-F of the cup, but lost out on board count against the eventual finalists. After 10 years of running the team, John Trubshaw is stepping down ahead of the new season. |
SEASON 2013-2014 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Frank Kane, Nigel Norman, David H Morgan, Lana Boztas, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Championship - 3rd out of 6 Cup - lost in quarter-final of Cup |
Comments | Another decent season but just 1 league win. However only 1 league defeat also. They ended up with a top half finish in the Championship. A reliable squad saw no board defaults but unfortunately not much of a cup run. |
SEASON 2012-2013 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Frank Kane, Nigel Norman, Lana Boztas, David H Morgan, John Trubshaw (Capt), Robert Akeya-Price |
Position | Championship - 2nd out of 6 Cup - lost in quarter-final of Plate |
Comments | It was a good start to the league season for The Team with No Name, but they never quite managed to push themselves into a position to challenge Pawn Cocktail for the title. However a 2nd placed finish was decent. Not much to report on the cup side of things where they were unlucky enough to be drawn against RSJ in the quarter-final of the Plate. |
SEASON 2011-2012 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Lana Boztas, Frank Kane, David H Morgan, Ryan Foster, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Premiership - 7th out of 8 |
Comments | Three straight defeats from the start of the season left them with a huge task to survive bearing in mind is was 3 down from 8. A win and 2 draws from the final 4 rounds was not enough and they went down in 7th place, but only to the new "middle" division. |
SEASON 2010-2011 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Lana Boztas, Frank Kane, David H Morgan, Peter Rhodes, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Premiership - 6th out of 8 |
Comments | A draw against the eventual champions was a good start but defeat in round 2 saw the struggle. After 4 rounds, they had claimed 2 wins but a couple of defeats saw them drop back into the relegation scrap before victory against last season's champions, The Gladiators, on the final day saw them escape. |
SEASON 2009-2010 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Lana Boztas, David H Morgan, Peter Rhodes, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Championship - 2nd out of 8 |
Comments | In 2007 they won the league. In 2008 they nearly got relegated. In 2009 they finished bottom and did get relegated. In 2010 they won promotion back to the top division. No-one can say they have had a dull time of it. Promotion was mathematically clinched on the last day just by turning up, but the title was slightly too much for them, despite having beaten eventual champions The Luddites in round 5. |
SEASON 2008-2009 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Lana Boztas, Frank Kane, David H Morgan, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Premiership - 8th out of 8 |
Comments | Unlike last season, they never recovered from the disappointing start they made. Defaulted boards at crucial times (in the first and last round), they just didn't seem to have enough fire power and lost the last desperate head to head on the final week of the season to relegated just 2 years after lifting the trophy, despite having exactly the same squad. |
SEASON 2007-2008 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Lana Boztas, Frank Kane, David H Morgan, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | Premiership - 5th out of 8 |
Comments | Having won the title last year, much was expected. But amazingly, after 4 of the 7 rounds, they were bottom of the table having lost all 4 and had little hope of survival. Somehow, they dragged themselves off the bottom of the table to pull of a miraculous escape and finish just below the half-way mark. |
SEASON 2006-2007 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Lana Boztas, Frank Kane, David H Morgan, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw (Capt) |
Position | 1 of 12 |
Comments | The title was won with a round to spare. In total, the record 7 wins but lost in rounds 2 and 9; the latter when the title was already in the bag. |
SEASON 2005-2006 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Nick Edwards, James Hall, David H Morgan, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw (Capt). |
Position | 6 of 14 |
Comments | Any hopes the team had of a title push came with 3 straight defeats late on, after the team had got themselves close to the top and seemingly ready to pounce. |
SEASON 2004-2005 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Nick Edwards (Capt), James Hall, David H Morgan, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw. |
Position | 4 out of 20 |
Comments | Never really in the running for the title, The Team with No Name clawed their way into the prize zone with a good end of season run. |
SEASON 2003-2004 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Nick Edwards (Capt), James Hall, David H Morgan, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw. |
Position | 5 out of 20 |
Comments | The Team with No Name sat beind the early pace but faded a little and although reasonably stable, never quite put enough together to threaten top spot. |
SEASON 2002-2003 - THE TEAM WITH NO NAME
Players | Nick Edwards (Capt), Caroline Foster, Patrick Guerin, David H Morgan, Rupert Quiney, Jim Rogers, John Trubshaw |
Position | 11 out of 12 |
Comments | An indifferent start deteriorated into a poor season which saw the team finish in 12th place, just above the bottom spot. |
SEASON 2001-2002 - UN-NAMED TEAM / TEAM B
Players | Paul Bloom (Capt), David H Morgan, Rupert Quiney, Tom Shillingford, John Trubshaw. |
Position | 5 out of 6 |
Comments | This was the first ever season of competition and there had been an attempt to get the teams as equal as possible. Paul Bloom had agreed to captain the team but the name was only retrospectively chosen during the 2nd season. They were referred to as "Un-Named Team" or "Team B" for much of the first year. |
