SEASON 2021-20223     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Rahul Babu, Jonathan Curry-Machado, David Gray, Rohit Mahadevan, Asmithan Premananthan, Aysha Rizvi, Mark Smith, Sandy Smyth (Cap), Anuj Venkatesh, Joseph Whelan, Michael Williams.
Position 1st Team: Premiership - 4 out of 12, 2nd team - 11th out of 12
SEASON 2018-20193     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Amardip Ahluwalia, Roxolana Chaban, Nilomi Desai, Bhavik More, Ian Pratley, Varun Ravikumar, Elias Ruzhansky, Sandy Smyth (Cap), Nandinee Thatte, Anuj Venkatesh, Michael Williams.
Position 1st Team: Premiership - 6 of 6,     2nd Team: League 1 - 5 of 6
Comments This must have been an incredibly frustrating season for captain Sandy Smyth.  Despite being one of the best organised captains, the unavailability of his stronger players played havoc with his selection and often left both teams short of strength and, towards the end of the season, short of players.  Whether the 1st team had the strength in depth to be able to stay up is dubious, but had the stronger players been available they would certainly have been able to give it a go.  This, of course, had the effect of those who might have played for the 2nd team more regularly playing too often for the 1st team, leaving the 2nd team with little chance of avoiding a red zone finish.
SEASON 2017-20183     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Amardip Ahluwalia, Ian Pratley, Luca Retter, Gautham Shenbagakumar, Sandy Smyth (Cap), Nandinee Thatte, Kevin Thurlow, Anuj Venkatesh, Aditya Verma, Ananth Vijayakumar, Michael Williams.
Position 1st Team: Premiership - 6 of 8,     2nd Team: League 1 - 4 of 6
Comments It is was slight backward step for the 1st team as they had to finish for the last guaranteed slot for next season's Premiership.  A good 1st round win was followed by the 1st of 3 nights when the squad was 2 players short - an issue captain Sandy Smyth will need to look into ahead of next season.  There seems little doubt that both teams were adversely affected by a number of unavailable players - and would have finished much closer to the top of both divisions had they been luckier.
SEASON 2016-20173     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Amardip Ahluwalia, Eleanor Gadd, Ian Pratley, Luca Retter, Gautham Shenbagakumar, Sandy Smyth (Cap), Nandinee Thatte, Kevin Thurlow, Aditya Verma, Ananth Vijayakumar, Michael Williams.
Position 1st Team: Premiership - 3 of 8,     2nd Team: League 1 - 5 of 6
Comments Having consolodated in the top division last season, a 3rd place finish was a good step forward for the 1st team.  The squad was much the same as last season but the strengthening of the younger players improved the team.  If they can keep the same squad for next season, they may feel they have an chance of pushing RSJ for the title.  The 2nd team struggled in league 1 and only managed a win and 2 draws, with 2 of those results against the only team to finish below them.
SEASON 2015-20163     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Amardip Ahluwalia, Eleanor Gadd, Sholpan Namazbayeva, Ian Pratley, Luca Retter, Sandy Smyth (Cap), Kevin Thurlow, Aditya Verma, Ananth Vijayakumar, Michael Williams.
Position 1st Team: Premiership - 5th of 8,     2nd Team: League 1 - 5th of 8
Comments This was a reasonable season for The Luddites, with the 1st team holding their place in the top division.  However it could have been better but for the final week of the season when, for some reason, they didn't seem able to get their players out.  This obviously affected their 2nd team big time, who also finished 5th.  They started well, but lack of availability hit them badly in 2 of the rounds, thus preventing a better return.
SEASON 2014-20153     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Michael Williams, Ananth Vijayamkumar, Gordon Morse, Ian Pratley, Sandy Smyth (Capt), Vince Brady, Darshan Fernando, Robert Hulley, Pooja Murali, Luca Retter.
Position Championship - 1st out of 6      Cup: Lost in Q-F          League 2: 3rd of out 6    Cup: Lost in Intermediate Q-F.
Comments The 1st team raced out of the starting blocks with 3 wins out of 3 in the league.  However, defeat in the 4th league match opened the door toPawn Curry 1, but that was firmly shut in the final round as The Luddites 1 closed the match out to take the title.  The 2nd team had a comfortable season but were never likely to threaten winning the title.  The cups didn't bring much success with both out once the Q-F's had been played.
SEASON 2013-20143     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Ananth Vijayamkumar, Michael Williams, Gordon Morse, Sandy Smyth (Capt), Robert Hulley.
Position Championship - 2nd out of 6      Cup - lost in Plate semi-final
Comments It was a good season with a creditable 2nd place in the Championship, the only league defeat of the season came against the eventual champions.  It might have been an event better season had a shortage of players for the cup semi-final not helped to prevent them reaching the Plate final.
SEASON 2012-20133     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Michael Williams, Ananth Vijayamkumar, Gordon Morse, Malcolm Winter, Sandy Smyth (Capt), Robert Hulley.
Position Championship - 4th out of 6      Cup - lost in quarter-final of Cup
Comments The Luddites were a little lucky this season as they only stayed up by virtue of a technicality after their opponents of the opening round accidentally played out of board order.  The win they got for that match effectively kept them above Late Knight Sacrifice.  However they nearly went down anyway as one of their players fell 2 matches short and the points deduction they had left them merely staying up on goal difference.  Victory in their opening cup match led to them to defeat against the eventual winners in the quarter-finals.
SEASON 2011-2012     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Joseph Fry, Robert Hulley, Gordon Morse, Sandy Smyth (Capt), Michael Williams.
Position Championship - 3rd out of 10
Comments After the disappointment of relegation last season, they had a good season to finish 3rd and ensure themselves a place in the middle division for next season.  The lost to the 2 teams that finished above them in rounds 1 and 4 but ended only a point behind 2nd place with a final round draw the only other dropped points..
SEASON 2010-2011     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Joseph Fry, Robert Hulley, Gordon Morse, Sandy Smyth (Capt), Michael Williams.
Position Premiership - 8th out of 8
Comments From the moment they failed to sign a big hitter who would be available most of the season, they were always likely to struggle.  However, it all started well with a sensational win over Good Knights, who eventually went down with them.  But it was defeats all the way after that in what was a tough season.
SEASON 2009-2010     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Joseph Fry, Robert Hulley, Gordon Morse, Sandy Smyth (Capt).
Position Championship - 1st out of 8
Comments They finally delivered by winning the Championship title at the end of 3 seasons in the lower division.  Unusually, they managed it with just 4 squad players all season; nobody missed a round.  Their only defeat was to eventual runners-up The Team with No Name, but it wasn't enough to lose top spot.
SEASON 2008-2009     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Joseph Fry, Robert Hulley, Rahul Lall, Gordon Morse, Ray Ryan, Sandy Smyth (Capt).
Position Championship - 4th out of 8
Comments It was 1 place higher this season as they finished in the top half of the Championship, but it could have been better had they not be thumped by Real Betis in the final final.
SEASON 2007-2008     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Joseph Fry, Robert Hulley, Rahul Lall, Gordon Morse, Sandy Smyth (Capt).
Position Championship - 5th out of 8
Comments This was supposed to be the season that saw The Luddites bounce back to the top flight, but it never really happened.  A reasonable start gave way to a poor middle of the season which they never really recovered from.
SEASON 2006-2007     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Michael Collins, Paul Jackson, Gordon Morse, Sandy Smyth (Capt), David Wallis.
Position 10 out of 12
Comments It was disappointment for The Luddites as a poor start left them too close to the bottom that even 2 wins in the last 2 rounds couldn't drag them out of the relegation zone.  They will start next season in the lower division.
SEASON 2005-2006     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Michael Collins, Paul Jackson, Ron Mattocks, Sandy Smyth (Capt), David Wallis
Position 8 out of 14
Comments It was another mid-table finish and a season which didn't set the world on fire; this season it was a score of just under 50%.
SEASON 2004-2005     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Michael Collins, Paul Jackson, Ron Mattocks, Gordon Morse (Capt), Sandy Smyth
Position 10 out of 20
Comments The only difference to last season in terms of the final results was the goal difference, which was 2 better than last season.  The pattern of results was also different in that the 2 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses were mixed throughout the season.
SEASON 2003-2004     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Neil Clifton, Michael Collins, Paul Jackson, Ron Mattocks, Gordon Morse (Capt), Sandy Smyth
Position 10 out of 20
Comments The Luddites were happy with a top half finish this season despite another poorish start.  Again, results in the 2nd half of the season improved on the 1st half.
SEASON 2002-2003     -     THE LUDDITES
Players Michael Collins, David Howes, Paul Jackson, Ron Mattocks, Gordon Morse (Capt), Brian Williamson.
Position 10 out of 12.
Comments The team was formed by Gordon Morse for the second season of the Super League.  Early results were poor and they sat at the bottom early on, but they managed to start picking up results mid-season which took them up to 10th.
